I was a cartoonist…
The first BB blog LOL of the year.
4th grade marked the apex of my obsession with comic strips (note: not to be confused with comic books/graphic novels—we’re talking Milwaukee Journal Sunday paper circa 1994). My all time favorites were Calvin and Hobbes (I mean, it’s a stuffed tiger that comes to life and talks to you, I could def. relate) and Garfield (the real reason I’m sarcastic).
Naturally, I developed two series of comics, one involving a cast of seemingly random animals/dinosaurs and another revolving around a pill bug…yes, a freaking pill bug…that attended grade school (which shall be forever sealed in an unbreakable vault of shame). Here’s one from the ~*~secret~*~ archives:
Unfortunately, this one was not inked. I particularly enjoyed drawing the monkey whose name was Chee-Chee. Chee-Chee had a pet fly that accompanied him at all times. The main character in this suite of comics was a tropical bird thing named Krokee (don’t ask me why, I have no idea). He got into all sorts of trouble and hilarity ensued.
I was also really into bubble letters, but apparently not kerning.

Looks sooo good!
